James Franco Oct 3, 2015

Illuminations: the Chancellor’s Arts & Culture Initiative presents Life and Art: A Conversation with James Franco. Actor James Franco, perhaps most familiar from his roles in Freaks and Geeks, the Spider-Man trilogy, 127 Hours, and Pineapple Express, has been active in a broad range of creative fields, including film, drama, visual art, and creative writing. His projects have included films on the lives of James Dean and Harvey Milk. Franco has taught at USC and UCLA, where he holds a B.A. in English. He is the author of the gritty suburban youth novel Palo Alto, which became the film of the same name. Franco will speak about his broad artistic energies, his creative process, and his commitment to higher education and the liberal arts. Free to UCI students. Tickets available on a first-come basis by registration only. Priority will be given to students enrolled in the Illuminations Colloquium. For more information, visit the Illuminations website.
