In an effort to help meet the burgeoning need for health professionals in California, UCI in 2006 launched the Program in Nursing Science and the Program in Pharmaceutical Science (which became the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2008). Students in the programs participate in clinical training and often conduct academic research.
