Francisco J. Ayala receives National Medal of Science

In 2001, Donald Bren Professor of Biological Sciences Francisco J. Ayala was awarded the National Medal of Science for his “theoretical and experimental discoveries on the origin of species, genetic diversity and popular dynamics that led to a new understanding of biological evolution.” He received the medal from President George W. Bush at the White House on June 12, 2002.
